I desire to make this world better (or at least more interesting) with beautiful and thought-provoking things. Growing up sketching and drawing for the pure fun of it, I went to art school to find my passion and to make a living from it. I ended up experimenting in mixed media, sculpture, installation, video, and interactive technology, graduating with a BFA degree in New Media from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2002.
Now with over 20 years experience zigging and zagging as a media artist professional, I am well rounded with a unique set of cross-disciplinary skills. My specialty is to create large scale work with small teams and find engaging solutions for public installations, immersive, and interactive experiences that attract audiences.
Career defining projects have been directing live tour visuals for the groundbreaking 3D projection mapped world tour for Amon Tobin, projecting content on the massive 2.5 acre building at Art on the Mart in downtown Chicago for the Joffrey Ballet’s version of the Nutcracker, real-time rendered content for the iconic 150 N Riverside lobby installation, which included generative effects and data visualizations with an open platform to allow the artistic community to contribute their own content, and developing the world’s largest real-time rendering cluster with over 40 networked computers for interactive projections at massive resolutions for multiple projection art house venues internationally. Professional accomplishments include Pause Fest speaker in 2021, speaker at The Mill Creative Technology Week, and an exhibition at the Chicago Cultural Center for graphic design. Awards for interactive design in Communication Arts, D Show Award for special effects, FWA site of the day, SEGD Global Merit Award, and Motionographer winner for interactive installation for location based experiences.
